What is Pruning?
Pruning is one of the easiest ways to improve the productivity and structure of your trees as they grow. Some seasons are better for pruning than others, and there is no better time to prune the most foliage-bearing trees. Young trees are pruned every 2-5 years as plants, so think about why you can prune a tree again to do it right.
Different Types of Pruning
The cutting technique you use depends on when you cut, but just about any cutting technique can be used in any tree species, Whether deciduous, evergreen or shrub. When to cut: When is the weather conditions such as temperature, humidity and wind direction dependent, when do you cut deciduous trees or green shrubs?
How much the pruning puts on the plant depends on exactly what you want to do, but in most cases the pruning stimulates growth. If a plant is not pruned regularly and allowed to grow in a pattern, it needs a so-called strict pruning, which leads to many new shoots and rapid growth in spring. It is also a good idea to fertilize the tree before pruning, as this can close pruning wounds naturally and reduce stress on the tree.
What is the importance of pruning?
If you need an established plant to grow in a certain direction, to retain a certain size or to achieve a desired shape, the right pruning will promote the desired growth. To make a good cut, you need high quality, sharp tools that have been developed for the type of cut. For a complete tree pruning success, you will of course need to use the right tools, such as a sharp knife, a screwdriver and / or a knife blade. You need to be sure you have used the right cutting tools and are performing the pruning at the right time.
The advantage of dormant pruning is that it is easier to make decisions about pruning without leaves covering the structure of the branches. While shearing is faster than manual pruning, pruning selectively by hand is much better for plants. Do not try to use hand Cut off large branches with scissors, as this could ruin the scissors and damage the plant.
Sometimes pruning is necessary to reduce the size of a tree, but this often indicates that the wrong tree has been selected for a particular point in the landscape. For very tall trees, it is best to hire a specialist to cut the tree back to a manageable size before attempting to prune it. It is better to plant trees that do not grow too large for the location, and thus avoid shrinking the trees.
I like to cut as long as the new growth is still small, because the tree has invested a lot of energy in the cut. Maple and elm tend to bleed, active growth is weakened by heavy cuts during this time. However, an early winter pruning is better for some tree species; however, late summer or the end of July or August is the time to prune. Summer pruning saves the trees energy waste if the growth cut in winter is removed later.
The stem tissue of the tree is not likely to become so weak that it does not decompose and the wound is closed more effectively. When pruning large branches, care must be taken to cut only the branch tissue when pruning, not the old sections where the side branches have already developed. All branches that have reached a desired height or length can be cut or removed during pruning.
If a fairly heavy cut is required, no more than one third of the branches need to be cut at the same time. Even homeowners who know the right time to prune and remove branches are often confused about the right time and way to do the pruning because they fear that they will bend too many branches, inhibit the growth of the plant or kill it directly. It is always better to make a small cut every year than to take major corrective action after years of neglect. Even if you can’t do without plums sometimes, the goal should always be to prune the tree as it gets older and more established, and not just for a few years.
If you are one of these people, remember that most trees and shrubs do not require heavy pruning to remove dead, dying or diseased branches. Trying to control the size of a tree or shrub with heavy pruning only makes the problem worse because the plant forms many new, strong branches. If pruning is improperly done, young trees that have not been pruned at all for several years or have even been removed with large branches to prevent deformation of the tree will require heavy pruning in the future
What are the advantages of pruning?
If it is necessary to remove branches with a diameter of more than 2 inches to cut them in future seasons, it is important not to remove bark at the location of the branch attachment to the trunk. However, removing too many branches from the crown centre can lead to pruning a tree with a poor structure. The thinning should focus on removing branches smaller than this diameter and removing them with a saw.
